One person in a car rule.

Can I ask people to shed light on the only one person in a car rule, what is that for? Just to stop people driving off and socialising? I'm a single mum, my ds isn't old enough to be left home alone. I'm fine with staying in generally but what about my weekly supermarket shop? Can I not go unless I leave him behind? Trying to get my head around lockdown, when it comes but this one has me stumped. Plus, I'll have to work (SEND teacher) but will be driving ds to his dad's for childcare. Will this be allowed?

There is no rule at the moment and of course you couldn't leave him home alone

What rule is this? I must have missed this.

RaininSummer · 21/03/2020 21:01

Not heard if that rule. Surely if you live together anyway you are ok to share a car to take the dog out to the moors. At least until lockdown.

Sorry, I was talking about other countries who are already in lockdown, because I'm assuming that our rules will be similar to theirs.

This isn't a rule here (UK) so I wouldn't worry about it.
If you think about it, it's unworkable since there's lots of reasons why there might be 2+ in a car eg. driving kids to childcare or taking someone to a medical appointment
