Why are people trying to stockpile water?

Just that really. Are people expecting there to be disruptions to the water supply? Is it really going to get so bad that you need 200 bottles of water?

Because they're in panic mode so not making sensible decisions.

No they don't need 200 bottles of water, it will be a waste of plastic and water when they inevitably end up throwing them away.
