Would you order a takeaway right now?

I really want a takeaway and also to support local small businesses but I'm not sure if it's safe. Obviously you don't know who has handled the food when preparing it. Not so worried about the delivery itself as they do a contactless delivery now.

I'd love one, but the chefs that touch and prepare the food, how do we know they haven't got it! The chopping and preparing of the actual food?

FizzyBug · 21/03/2020 17:16

No, I wouldnt! The virus can survive on cardboard and hard surfaces for more than 8 hours. Not taking the chance. What if the chef has it but not showing symptoms? Ditto with the delivery person. I jut wouldnt risk it.

But surely anything you buy from a supermarket has also been handled by others? Confused

Lifesavesocialdistance · 21/03/2020 17:18

Well I try and remove store packing or wash it and then when I cook the food, obviously observe food standard. But I can see what's happening

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 21/03/2020 17:24

Its not the same is it? If some one coughs or sneezes on your food while they are cooking it? Id rather be safe than sorry. Delivered food was packed god knows when.

TheMagiciansMewTwo · 21/03/2020 19:15

We're wiping down or discarding all food packaging. Why wouldn't we when we know the virus survives on surfaces and we don't know who has touched items in or from the supermarket?
But you can't disinfect food from a takeaway hence why we're not ordering it.

Saladmakesmesad · 21/03/2020 21:01

I've googled a bit and it seems like it's highly unlikely that eating food (even if prepared by a sick person) is risky. Unless they have norovirus!

Absolutely! I only order from places I know and will try to even more so now. We're getting takeaway afternoon tea tomorrow.

AnyFucker · 21/03/2020 21:05

Yes. Had a lovely Chinese tonight from our usual place.

DirtyTicket · 21/03/2020 21:06

Yes. Had a Chinese takeaway tonight. We were supposed to be going out to a restaurant tomorrow but we'll be collecting from them instead.

PotholeParadise · 21/03/2020 21:07
