Eureka: Have finally had success persuading corona-minimising friend to heed the sodding advice.

All week: "I'm fine, so I can't pass anything on..."
"The minute I begin to feel ill I promise I'll stay away from everyone then..." yada yada...

She's so intelligent and responsible about everything else in life, but on this it's been like banging my head against a brick wall.

Our local site posted this, she watched it, and the penny dropped.

Please, please try showing it to anyone in your life who's still refusing to social distance

Quick 2 minute film.

Is brilliant.

Explains it really clearly.
Why isn't Boris showing something similar immediately after his press briefings?

I can’t watch it anyone else?

ednatheevilwitch · 21/03/2020 14:58

Can't see it

addictedtotheflats · 21/03/2020 14:59

Cant see it

smeerf · 21/03/2020 15:02

I can see it! Yes, very clear. I don't know why it's not being communicated in this way OP

BertieBotts · 21/03/2020 15:04

I found the original. This one is longer but what OP has linked is a clip from it. www.vox.com/videos/2020/3/16/21182196/fight-coronavirus-social-distancing-flatten-curve

tiktoktik · 21/03/2020 15:04

I've watched it, it's in line with everything else I've seen - maybe it needs to be more mainstream but thing is that those who don't want to listen won't. I've heard (corroborated) stories of people who have knowingly been exposed still going to public places. The stupidity has no bounds....

Falangalangadingdang · 21/03/2020 15:05

I can't see it and I'm looking for something short and sweet to spam on every group asking twatish questions about why they should be able to nip out or sent their kids to the park.

BertieBotts · 21/03/2020 15:05

OP's clip starts at 3:04 of the link I shared.

Babymamamama · 21/03/2020 15:16

Nope I can't either

Sparklingplasters · 21/03/2020 15:18

Op can you you try to post the video again please?

ThisTimeMine · 21/03/2020 15:22

They ought to make that video a Public Announcement film and show it on the news!

notalwaysalondoner · 21/03/2020 15:57

I’m not sure this will convince my granny as “I don’t get the subway or go to the office”... she’s over 90 and still insisting on going to the hairdresser and having all her home visits (many non essential and people who will have had loads of contact with other vulnerable people e.g. chiropodist). Any suggestions? My wider family I think also need to all agree to stop seeing her except maybe 1-2 people for supplies, but everyone loves spending time with her so no one has suggested this yet ...

bodgeitandscarper · 21/03/2020 16:02

My mother is immune suppressed, so being very careful. Mil however is the opposite and refuses to stay in. Taking the tack that it really is quite selfish because even if you don't mind becoming seriously ill or losing your life, the person who you are taking up a bed space from may well lose their life because of you, had the most impact.

AutumnalLeaves38 · 21/03/2020 22:32

@bodgeitandscarper's advice sounds good.
