AIBU to think the National Trust have made the wrong decision to allow free entry in the current Covid-19 pandemic?

I live near a NT site and the place has been swarmed today, cars abandoned all over the place and mass swarms of people of all ages congregating in quite a small area.

Surely this goes against the advise of social distancing?

What were the NT thinking when they made this decision I do not know but there is a difference between going out to get some fresh air on a country walk as opposed the opening up well known tourist attractions for the masses to descend on and socialise.

Alsohuman, it was aimed at everyone demanding their money back for membership. Sorry if you took offence to it.
Just a reminder that a lot of it is open to none members. Well even to members come to think of it. Someone tried doing the hard sell a few years ago and took me as their guest. Still wasn't convinced.

They are no different really to a lot of charities, I support those I want to simply because. I don't do it in return for something. I hate the ones that are always sending out loads of postcards, bears and stuff. Would rather it stayed in the charity tbh.

It is sold as membership not a donation.

ffswhatnext · 23/03/2020 20:30

I know that.
My point was if you support the charity should it really matter they open their gates to the masses or not. Which were already open anyway, just as usual the houses closed to the masses.

Has it dampened your enjoyment of the places so far? Yea it's a pain. We all have memberships to places we cannot use at the moment. That's a downside to memberships, services can be withdrawn at times.

ffswhatnext, not remotely offended. I really mean what I said quite genuinely. I’m pissed off that anyone could be so mean spirited and petty to begrudge anyone enjoying open spaces because they haven’t paid for the privilege.

Honestly, at the moment, I'm praying for aliens. Rather take my chances with them, than some people at the moment. I despair sometimes at 'civil societies'

I honestly don’t know what the fuck they were thinking.
