Do my family have it?

It started 3 weeks ago with DP having a mucousy cough, feeling run down, sniffling nose etc. So not typical symptoms and no fever but he hasn’t improved.
Then 2 weeks ago my DC both came down with a runny nose that has now turned into coughs which are much worse at night and get better throughout the day.
I’m mostly fine but have a scratchy throat and the sensation of mucus running down my throat.
I’m convinced we have it and I am worried. DP convinced we have a different bug. Who is most likely to be right?

You might want to ask a healthcare professional about that.

As far as the advice goes am sure the cough is dry and has no mucus. Maybe check NHS online for advice?

You can’t ask a professional for advice. Can’t call 111 because they don’t want to hear from you unless you are unable to cope at home. My GP are only offering telephone appointments and if you ask about cough/ fever type symptoms they quite rightly redirect you to 111.

There is no point in calling anyone unless you need medical help because the symptoms are more than you can manage at home. You should be isolating with those symptoms anyway. So just keep plodding along and hope you get better. However it does seem more like you all have colds, most of the info on corona does not include runny noses and wet coughs, it sounds like any sore throats you have might actually be post nasal drip.

I’ve had this for weeks too. Very mucousy cough and post nasal drip. Occasional scratchy throat etc. The blowing of my nose has abated now but still the damned mucous down my throat... DH has it too (oh I also have intermittent pain along my teeth, I’m guessing from my sinuses).
Tbh though this doesn’t fit with covid symptoms so I’ve never thought I’ve had it. Just the usual winter head cold.

Sounds like a cold, that's the problem. It is still cold and flu season. If a persistent cough or fever start tats different but given that your dh has it and is ok I wouldn't worry .

Thanks. DP said it’s just a bad cold that he can’t shake. Problem is everyone is much more paranoid at the moment. If it is a cold it’s fitting with our usual pattern - I’m the one who doesn’t tend to get that ill and bounce back quickly. Hope that means I’ve got a good immune system in case of corona too!
