A few I follow on FB have been posting this so it hasn't been clear enough.

They have been shut in New York so may be next on the list here

Back to emailing the MP then as nails and beauticians cannot be considered essential!!! If New York can do it so can we.

Glad we all had a haircut recently and box dyes can still be bought! Feel sorry for all the mainly self employed beauticians and hairdressers

OH COME ON!!!!!!
(Goes to bang head against wall)

adiposegirl - Sorry I don't understand why are you banging your head?? Do you seriously think they should remain open? New York have managed to close them so why cant we.

It is clear people dont follow gentle recommendations so need clear instructions to close. I have spent a week emailing MPs/head of council to close our swim pool and leisure centre as they wouldn't until the government did it for them.

I have emailed them asking them to do the same for beauticians etc as it is clear that people don't think the guidance applies to these areas and that most people here think they are a need not a luxury.

Is suspect the pp was thinking you though they should be open

covidisolation · 21/03/2020 09:33

Not sure how she could think that as I clearly said that I was checking that instructions were clear enough to close. I am still not sure if they are clear. Does anyone know if those affected have understood the situation?

Covid - they are not closed at present. They may close in the future.

covidisolation · 21/03/2020 10:25

I absolutely despair. Of course they will close eventually and we will all be locked in like parts of Europe unless we can stop unnecessary contact. There is nothing less essential than nails and beauticians. Of course it is tragic for the employees but it is even more tragic for those who are going to die. Nail and beautician businesses can be restarted. Why does no one understand the seriousness. I will email my MP again.

I think some have been told by their insurers they are not covered if they carry on trading at this time, so hopefully will encourage them to close.

I'm sick of seeing fb posts saying 'still open but cleaning down chair between clients'

Hoohaahoo · 21/03/2020 10:52

My regular hairdresser is still open. I don’t think it’s a good idea but I’m not judging them. Everyone is worried about how to survive if they’re not making money.

The one I use is closing today.
