they were still at school. schools basically are a mass gathering of children! i think it’s a lovely idea.

A lot of schools have been operating mixed classes in the hall due to staff shortages so doing it outside was possibly the safest point of the day!

It's the last day of school, when they were going to be together anyway. They've been together all week. I can't see that it makes much difference now. There are children who won't be able to see their friends for months, it's a nice way to part.

I'm not sure what you mean?

The were all together in school anyway, so why not? Confused

Well the school children round here that I've asked about stopped having assemblies etc quite a while ago - fgs CofE church weddings have been limited to 5 guests only. Church services have been stopped. Why deliberately gather a load of children together?? I'm bloody glad schools are now closed. I wish they had a couple of weeks ago. It made no sense at all for the delay except I assume they were sorting all the logistics of it.

This will only work if everybody understands. This is a killer virus that is spreading like wildfire. So many of us could be carrying it and passing it on without knowing. They're not immune because it was their last day or because they were doing something nice. Actually they have run the risk of causing more infection in their community.

Do people actually watch the news????

I pulled my out last week purely on the basis the teachers at our school haven’t the brains they were born with. I got a call in December to come down and give DC some calpol and see how he goes for the rest of the day. Took a thermometer with me he was at 39, you could have fried an egg on him. Oh and they were crying, absolutely cannot he trusted to make decisions in the children’s best interests.

The school mine go too stopped having assemblies as well, but once they had too few teachers they had to merge classes. They had no choice. They couldn't leave kids unattended.

The article says it's Y5 and 6 so if there's been a staff shortage there's a fair chance they've been getting taught/minded in those big groups anyway.
