Does anyone have any ideas how I can get a prescription?

I have asthma and an auto immune condition. As per my GP surgery advice I downloaded the Echo App to order my prescription then days ago. It wasn't authorised so emailed GP surgery who confirmed Echo as my nominated pharmacy and would authorise prescription. It still isn't authorised and the surgery is now closed to walk in customers, phones have an auto reply saying to email but they haven't replied to email since Monday. Live chat on Echo not answering just saying to wait due to high demand. I have 4 days worth of inhalers left and I don't know what to do. Could go and stand in a pharmacy but no guarantee they have stock and will be potentially exposing myself. Any ideas? Tried calling all local pharmacies with no reply.

Just go to the pharmacy with an inhaler you're currently using. They might (should) be able to write you a private prescription. Might be worth ringing them first though.

DivGirl I've tried to ring but none are answering and as I'm supposed to be self isolating due to my conditions I'm worried about it but I guess that might be my only option

You can take your inhaler to any chemist you have used in the past to fill your prescription and ask for an emergency supply.
They will have a record of your previous prescription and so can issue you a new inhaler without having a current scrip.
They will then apply to your GP to have a "proper" prescription sent to them (you don't have to get involved in this bit, it's between the chemist and the GP).
You don't actually have to go in person. You can send someone else to request this for you - it would help if you had the "repeat" slip - the white section from your prescription from the last time you were issued the inhaler. This would also show that you were due for a replacement now.
Hope that's useful Smile
