Anyone know what happens with ‘products unavailable’ in Tesco shop?

I have a Tesco shop booked for Sunday - I went in to look at my order so I could put together a meal plan and over 50% of the products say ‘unavailable’. Does that mean they won’t be delivered or they’re unavailable if I were to order now? And if the former, will they provide substitutes?
Hoping other people might have been in the same boat who’ve already had their shopping delivered!

Mine weren’t delivered. I went through at the last minute and tried to replace with other things that are currently available. This worked fairly well, although I still didn’t get any loo roll

lubeybooby · 20/03/2020 12:47

don't check out - leave it as it is and they will try to substitute. if you check out you are accepting the unavailable items and no attempt will be made to sub

Don’t check out till before the cut off as some will come back in stock

Ok thanks! Will wait and see what happens and keep my fingers crossed....! I’m just glad I’m one of the lucky ones with a slot Smile

We had ours delivered yesterday. Half the items weren't there. No milk, no baby wipes, no toilet roll. Not sure how we're supposed to cope as we're currently self isolating.

I’m worried about mine too- checked it last night and changed whatever was showing as unavailable. It should have been £98 but only £60 has been taken from my account this morning! I dread to think what is going to turn up. I’m self isolating so will have to make do!

BriefDisaster · 20/03/2020 14:18

Approx 75% of ours was delievered last night but about half of that was substitutions. I agree if you check out whilst something states that it isnt in stock then they won't sub it.

I check out when everything I want is available and god help DH if he then dares to try and amend it and loses half the stuff.

Murinae · 20/03/2020 14:24

I logged in late at night and tried to substitute myself with other things. Even then about a third wasn’t available including no mince or toilet rolls.

PumpkinP · 20/03/2020 14:35

Tbh I was quite pleased with my shop, yes a lot of substitutes but sensible ones, some missing items but most of my shop was there, much more than you would get by actually going to the shop in person. No washing powder, milk, pasta or toilet roll though

Imgoingonanadventure · 20/03/2020 15:38

Oh man, I hope stuff turns up :( we’re self isolating with a 7 month old as we’re both asthmatic... so fingers crossed!! Good to hear the substitutions are sensible ones

I've got a Tesco delivery coming on Monday. I'm almost intrigued to see what I actually get when it arrives. My expectations of getting any of the stuff I've ordered are low.

Undies1990 · 20/03/2020 16:07

I've just had my Tesco delivery which I get regularly each Friday. Most things were delivered or substituted (all sensible!) but items missing were UHT milk, bleach and, strangely weatabix! I received a pack of 9 loo rolls which was a surprise 🤗

redsky21 · 20/03/2020 16:09

I did the same, but some of my items that said weren't available did arrive, some didnt. However I had no substitutions, driver said they weren't doing them any more

Michelleoftheresistance · 20/03/2020 16:16

I've been checking regularly through my order due tomorrow, ordered over a week ago, and about half of what I ordered originally has become unavailable. At least I've been able to change it within the order for what is listed as being there. It doesn't stop being available to change until late tonight so I'll have another check late tonight and make alterations if key things are gone. As of today they apparently don't have any of our usual pet food brands, either wet or dry, which is worrying me slightly; big bottles of milk are available but no smaller ones, but meat and veg (if you're not picky about brands) seem fine. I'm hoping the bread doesn't vanish in the next few hours as elderly parents rely on that.

Submariner · 20/03/2020 16:35

I am replacing what I can when it shows as unavailable then if something is completely unavailable (no other brands etc) I'm putting it back on my shopping list to check again next time I go on. Delivery due Monday. I don't think I'll get everything but at least it will reduce the amount I have to pick up from local shops as we have no car.

Murinae · 20/03/2020 20:33

I got a big delivery of pet food from zooplus this week as i was running low so maybe try that.
