Universal credit - phone waiting time

DS has been laid off and is trying to book UC appt - he's been holding since 10.30.Has anyone got through today? How long did it take?

He needs an appointment because he's tried to verify his id online and failed, so needs to take his id docs into jobcentre.

Can't you ask in the journal part on his universal credit account? Might take longer to get a response but the appointment time will probably be the same.

Thanks, happiness. It's a first claim, and didn't suggest an on-line option, but it's worth a try.

Are UC calls from a mobile free? He was trying from the landline, but it ran the handset battery down and cut him off after 2.5 hours.

It's a nightmare, we are trying to do a reclaim but it won't link our claims so I am stuck. Can't put anything the the journal as it won't let us use that ....until our claims are linked.

Yes the id online verification thing is a huge problem.
