Fucking hell people are stupid Angry

MissPoldark · 19/03/2020 17:55

Oh no! Somewhere in Cornwall by any chance? Only saying as that would have been my choice and I’ll admit it had crossed my mind once or twice.

HonestlyItsFine · 19/03/2020 18:00

This is what happens when they close schools.

Teddypops · 19/03/2020 18:13

Yes Cornwall. I'm in a foul mood today and will take it out on bloody holiday makers! 😂

This is what happens when they close schools too late, and independently of a lockdown

dontaskformedicaladviceonmn · 19/03/2020 18:41

Are they holiday home owners or are people still actively letting out their rental properties?

How have people not learned from the Italy/Spain situation? Shocking.

NecklessMumster · 19/03/2020 18:48

We're coming to Cornwall at the weekend, to get our student son from uni. Staying in a holiday self contained flat as too far a journey . So we will look like holidaymakers. Please don't shout at us.

Teddypops · 19/03/2020 18:58

Neckless I promise 😁

Not sure about second home owners but people out photographing tourist spots, young kids, roof boxes.

OrangeSamphire · 19/03/2020 19:00

I know. So angry that they’re all still coming. Our village beach was full of them today. Angry

Reginabambina · 19/03/2020 19:02

I’d sooner spend a lockdown in a larger second home by the sea than in a small London flat/semi/whatever. They really shouldn’t be going obviously but I can’t say I blame them.

Norma27 · 19/03/2020 19:07

I really can't believe how bloody stupid people are.
I'm going to have to go to my mum's on Saturday to stop her stupid bloody sister make her catch the bus into town. I had a row withr my aunt in the street about it. She doesnt care what people say. She along with another aunt told mum she had to attend a wedding too. I'll have to sit in the car outside as mum is trying to self isolate.
Staying in is shit but the alternative is so much worse.

Norma27 · 19/03/2020 19:09

Regina you might prefer going to the seaside but you are potentially taking the virus to another area which cannot cope. As happened in Spain and Italy.
The next few months are going to be shut but we need to stop the spread as much as possible.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 19/03/2020 19:10

Well closing the schools was a guaranteed way to Make this happen tbh

cattaxi · 19/03/2020 19:10

Same here op! Different UK spot.
It’s madness. We don’t have the infrastructure to cope if these people get sick. We have a below average number of icu beds per head as it is. And an above average population of those aged over 70. It’s going to be chaos when the virus gets here.
I saw a local gp surgery advertising today that they will no longer be able to offer services to temporary residents. The chemist are stating similar. I doubt it will put people off.
My heart also bleeds for those who will lose their livelihoods if the tourists stay away. It really is a no win situation.
I’d definitely be staying closer to the best chance of accessing treatment if i had the choice.

dramaqueen · 19/03/2020 19:13

Regina, that’s all very good while people are fit and well, but Cornwall has one hospital. I’d be prioritising locals if I had my way.

Alsohuman · 19/03/2020 19:14

There was a news item about Southwold on TV the other night. It seems it’s packed with pensioner second home owners who have decamped from London. Arseholes.

Mlou32 · 19/03/2020 19:26

Oh @Reginabambina we'd all prefer to have lovely surroundings to socially distance ourselves in. But peoples health and lives are more important. Whether you live in a mansion or a bedsit; people should be staying put where they are. Never mind travelling, never mind overburdened small areas health services. People should Stay. At. Home.

okiedokieme · 19/03/2020 19:31

We are going camping (in the middle of nowhere, cooking own food) as long as we are well, might as well get fresh air and very low risk, lower than my house full of noisy students back from university!

Shineynew · 19/03/2020 19:36

I’m in Devon and people are furious with the parks for opening. We have had zero cases here yet and it looks like that is about to change. With one district hospital with 7 ventilators in a 50 mile radius. Please please stay at home!!!

Belindabelle · 19/03/2020 19:46

We are going to our holiday home tomorrow when DS2 gets in from school. BUT don’t worry we are not arseholes. We are just going to check that everything is locked up safe, tidy the garden, collect the mail, and get the jigsaws, board games and sport equipment. Oh and maybe raid the toilet roll and alcohol stash. We will be driving home the next day without socialising, shopping etc.

We don’t expect to be back there for a long time. We normally try and go every other weekend. It really is a second home and we planned to retire there. Sadly because of health issues, some of us might not be back ever again if we catch this virus. We want to go and have a final stay and a last walk along the beach.

50but17inside · 19/03/2020 19:52

Boris and Co have allowed this to happen. It should have been explained to the public in the most Pooh Bear styleof language why leaving London was such a terrible terrible idea I despair

AlexaAmbidextra · 19/03/2020 20:09

No, don’t just blame pensioners. Anyone who knows places like Southwold, Aldeburgh, Burnham Market etc. will know that these towns are full of wealthy Boden clad London yummy mummies and daddies and their sprogs who are second-home owners. To blame pensioners is being deliberately untruthful.

Alsohuman · 19/03/2020 20:12

Everyone they interviewed was over 70.

Jellykat · 19/03/2020 20:32

We are seeing exactly the same here in Pembrokeshire and agree it will get worse after the schools closed.

It really is adding to an already stressful situation for residents, GPs, hospitals, food shops, etc.. and endangering our lives even further.
