The pubs/ coffee shops in my town are heaving!

I just went into town to collect my prescription and a few essential groceries.

Every pub and coffee shop I walked passed was about 50% full, and people were definitely not distancing themselves! Even worse, there was quite a lot of kids running around carefree!

I went into the Poundshop, but immediately left after realizing that I would definitely be touched by other customers given how busy they were.

In my town (North East), people don’t care! Shock

Same where I live. No one is taking it seriously and on Tuesday the shops were full of families with children (I live on a high street I haven't been out myself)

It’s the same where I am. Lots of panic buying morons but nobody social distancing.

Here too.
This is why we end up in lockdown, because people don't take it seriously until they have no choice.

It was like that in our town when I had to go out briefly earlier.

On our estate however which is on the outskirts it's extremely quiet with the vast majority working from home and only leaving the house if essential.

I just couldn’t believe it. I know that the pubs etc. still have to make a profit, but they should be taking measures to ensure that people are social distancing (removing half the chairs etc.)

50% full is not heaving. That's positively quiet.

It's not real to them. The people with it and dying from it are just numbers on the tv. By the time they wake up to the danger it'll be too late for them and their loved ones.

They need to close them. People can't be trusted, and now the kids are off they'll bring them along too.

Just been to the local shop to get bread and milk and it just seems like an ordinary day out there. People (many over the age of 70) walking around like nothing is happening. I am also now really aware of people coughing and sneezing and so many people are!

Given the number of announcements of the closure of pubs and cafes that i follow on Facebook who only a couple of days ago were saying they would still be open, I can only assume that customers are staying away around here.

Same here. I am really really concerned about how busy they will all be when the schools close. The government need to close down non essential businesses from today.

So is my local park, the kids play area is heaving with kids enjoying the sunshine and Mums having a good gossip. You'd think it's the school holidays.

I think a lot will change tomorrow when schools close. I think there is a bit of a feeling that we have to make the most of these few days. Or Monday, people might take the weekend to see family for the last time then stay at home from then.

But you went to the pound shop too...

I expect everyone has their reasons and it’s not sinking in for anyone that they shouldn’t be out. I hope it’ll get better after the schools close...

Well I know places like costa etc have closed.

So is this local cafes etc?

It's madness.

People not listening will force more measures than necessary.

I must admit had it not been for my life experiences I might be mire carefree too.

It's hard to grasp and understand the enormity of this. I've had my eye on it since January.
I'm really terrified.

I am glued to sky. Glued to mn. Constantly reading news papers and science papers.

I like to try and understand everything my poor weak brain can take in.

However, many people have much fuller lives, they don't watch the news (it's the most depressing program on TV after all....) don't read papers, see headlines... Think its ott and that's it... They don't see Boris on the podium pleading or the scientists. They maybe surrounded by people similarly lassiez faire, nonsense, rubbish etc.

So it doesn't surprise me at all that so many people don't get this.

I went to the Pound Shop to get a few essential toiletries...

I certainly didn’t go there for a browse or to chit chat to other customers, which was what most other people seem to have gone there for! Sad
