DS really poorly but we can't go to hospital

I don't know what to do. DS is 12. We are self isolating as we've both been poorly with a high temp and a cough. He has had a three day headache which has got significantly worse today. He is in agony just moving his eyes from side to side, won't let me turn the light on, hasn't got out of bed for 24hrs.

He is rousable but just goes back to sleep when I leave the room. His temp is now normal but he is still coughing. What the hell do I do in these circumstances?

Might be helpful. BBC Coronavirus and ibuprofen: Separating fact from fiction.

The situation might be different in different hospitals, but it is not true that hospitals are not taking anybody in. I work in a children's hospital and last night we were still admitting children who needed to be admitted whether that was because of covid symptoms or something else that requires hospital treatment.
OP, I hope your DS continues to improve

Ibrupofen is bad, best to avoid

Please don't post inaccurate statements like that based on scare stories in the news. See www.bbc.co.uk/news/51929628

I agree, I think he is being appropriately treated at home for now.

I don’t think hospitals are taking any children in if possible

That's not true. I work on a large children's ward and we are still taking in all the usual urgent admissions. We have a separate area for respiratory illness. Over the past 2 days we've had the normal abdo pains, fevers, tonsillitis, d&v and safeguarding admissions. We're just closed to elective admissions.

Speak to 111 but headache and extreme tiredness can be symptoms of covid.
Is he photophobic or confused at all?

British Medical Journal says don’t treat Covid-19 with ibuprofen

Yes the ibuprofen thing is now in the British medical journal as linked above - some of the individual stories seem to have been fake, but I would still follow the advice not to take it as it’s on there

Hope he’s ok soon and gets seen
