Any ideas how this is going to play out? What about kids going to 6th form and uni?

DS not a happy bunny...

I’m am truly gutted for DC. I wonder if the government will give parents and students a choice of either sit exams in July, risking exposure, or award according to predictions?

My son’s predicted gcse grades are good so from that viewpoint I don’t mind. However, he’s been very lazy this term and has done little revision. I worry that he’s unprepared for sixth form and that he’ll struggle with AS and A Levels because he’ll have had no experience of big exams.

I feel worried for friends’ kids who are off to university in September. Such uncertainty, which I hope will be cleared up ASAP.

There are other options though, for example schools could open only for exams and they could be invigilated in small groups with 2 meters apart? I'm an exam invigilator and I would certainly go in in July to do this. School could provide hand gel and Face masks.
I certainly won't be letting dd think that the exams are cancelled, as far as she is concerned it's business as usual til May

My DD has an unconditional offer for her 1st choice but leaving rural NI for London in September without a vaccine or acquired immunity is my main concern atm. Hers is not going to the school formal next month hmm

So same as everyone else with regards to immunity.

I'm worried that after being at home for nearly 6 months ds won't be able to get his head around studying again, he is missing sitting his GCSE's & also the induction to sixth form plus the study tasks they set in preparation for A level studies. If schools remain closed it is 23 weeks until September term starts. Plus I have been paying for a private tutor to get him through his maths GCSE, I'm going to have to stop that if he isn't sitting his exam & I feel sorry for his tutor who has worked so hard with him that he won't be getting money he expected.
