My parents are elderly and have a cleaner come fortnightly.

Can anyone advise on any extra precautions a cleaner should be taking, bearing on mind they are going in and out of homes?

I’ve been wondering this too. My elderly parents have a cleaner, in fact, two - a mother-daughter pair who work as a team. Not sure what’s best. If my parents go in the garden or another room is that OK?

I would suggest that when they come in the vulnerable person goes into one room.

The cleaners wash their hands before touching anything and preferably wear gloves (the gloves are more for their own protection). Obviously, the cleaning is cancelled if the cleaner has any symptoms

The room the vulnerable person is in is not cleaned that week and the following week they go into a different room so the every room is cleaned at least fortnightly.

No need for the vulnerable person to go into a room away from the cleaner, or one room not to be cleaned. If the cleaner has any symptoms or has been in contact with anyone they just stay away. The client provides their own cloths which are washed straight after use and if they want the cleaner wears gloves but with good hand washing that's not necessary. Just good, basic common sense and hygiene.

Cleaner here. Been handwashing regularly, have used zoflora on all doors, handles, surfaces etc. Customers either not home of in another room.
Over 70 couple are self isolating so i haven't been but still getting paid.

I've heard that a lot of people have cancelled the cleaner but are still paying them as they are aware that the they can still afford the cleaner but the cleaner cannot afford not to get paid
