I'm not in the UK but do have family there.

Here the advice is even with schools, nursery closing elderly/ grandparents should not be looking after children.

Is this the same advice in the UK and are people following it? I know for some it's a choice of no work, no pay but just wanted to know the general status on this as here it is extremely taboo.

Over 70s have been told to self isolate for 12 weeks

The news has told me that. Doesn't answer my question really though does it?

I think your question was answered pretty well

Yes grandparents have been told not to assume childcare responsibilities when schools close

How does it not answer your question? Do you understand what exactly over 70s are expected to do? They're self isolating.

My mum has my kids for half a day the one day I work. I'm a frontline NHS worker who works in ITU. My mum works as a nurse and is under 70 and has no underlying health conditions. If the schools are shut and my kids arent socialising with anyone but us then it's only me putting everyone at risk right? Its terrifying as I dont want to put my mum at risk but I have to work.
