Social Distancing - So are you? What does it mean to you?

I have been socially distancing since the announcement on Monday. It is not difficult for me and the children as they are home ed due to SEN already. I have adequate food and entertainment/ education due to our situation and other than taking the dog for a quick walk we are not planning to leave the house or see anyone. I know that this could go on for months.

I have the impression that some think that this is OTT and a friend is put out that I didn't want her to visit today with her child.

Am I being OTT? Or is this what is expected / the right thing to do. I am not in any of the at risk categories but my kids would struggle to cope if I were to be unlucky and need to be hospitalised so from my point of view what is the point in taking an unnecessary risk?

What are you doing to socially distance yourself?

I’ve been socially distancing since Monday too. Working from home, very swift visit to the supermarket over the road when it opens at 7am if we need anything, have cancelled plans to see my mum on Sunday and my sister on her birthday early next week, and cancelled our uk week away which was booked for 30th March.

Have been going out once each day for a bike ride around the nearby cemetery, park and playing fields to get some fresh air and exercise. Trying not to watch any TV except if DH wants to watch anything in the evening and have dug out my crochet hooks, my guitar and a pile of unread books.

I'm working from home now anyway, trying to keep my distance from people. Had one short trip to the supermarket and that was it. All our clubs have been cancelled and the club I own I have shut for 6 weeks initially.

DH is emergency services and travels into his place of work in london by train so hes still going to work. I'm just hassling him to wash his hands plenty.
