Year 11 son, mildly asthmatic, WWYD?

My two younger sons are still at secondary school. One in y8, one in y11 so obviously coming up to GCSEs.
Both of them (and me) have mild asthma. They carry inhalers but rarely need to use them.
Under the latest guidelines, we are classed as having a long term condition so are in a higher risk group.
I have spoken to the school about possibly keeping them off, and they basically said it's up to us. They won't make them stay home but they will be supportive of us if we choose to keep them off.
My big concern is for the y11. Nobody knows what will happen as regards GCSEs but for the time being, the advice is to carry on as if they were taking place as usual.
I am very torn about keeping him off. Most of his subjects have completed the syllabus and he's doing some great, focused revision in class. One or two subjects still haven't taught the entire syllabus and I'm concerned he will miss vital information.
In my heart, I want to keep him home - but I don't know if I'm doing the right thing.
If he wasn't in a higher risk category I'd definitely send him in until the decision was taken out of my hands. If he wasn't GCSE year I'd definitely be keeping him off. But he's both!! My head is in a mess wondering what's the right thing to do!!!
