I am really quite concerned about the number of abuse cases there will be against women and children if schools shut and lockdown starts, school is the only thing that keeps a lot of vulnerable children safe and I don’t know if there is any kind of plan to keep tabs on this.

I was thinking about this today, I am 9 months free of leaving a DV relationship and even the thought of being quarantined with him for a long period of time makes me feel physically sick I really feel for other women and children who are in this position it’s heartbreaking

Was thinking that especially here in ROI today as it's St Patrick's day and all the pubs are closed and schools are off, over 200,000 jobs lost since Friday. It is definitely going to bring out the best and worse of people.

I was lying in bed awake thinking about this last night. No football, no pubs, job losses, shortages in the shops. It's a simmering pot for some people and they'll boil over behind closed doors.
isittooearlyforgin · 17/03/2020 23:01
Yes, financial worries will definitely make it worse

Yes, this entered my head today too, maybe because its St Patrick's here, which is traditionally a big boozy day for some. I was wondering , how many people were drinking excessively at home, or edgy because they couldn't get to the pub, no parades to go to with kids .
I feel, because people are stressed about the virus , loss of income, loss of social contact, have the kids home all day ....theres no outlet for people ....that DV will most definitely increase.
It will be a very sad byproduct of this pandemic.
And it's a very worrying one .

This worries me too. I usually make a weekly deposit in the food bank collection at Asda but can't anymore as we're in isolation.
It worries me that if police etc are busy doing crowd control or whatever there will be no one for these women to call
