Worried about mental health of DC

My 6 year old is terribly anxious. The school have beem amazing at explaining what is going on but the changes are so noticeable (seating moved, 6 specified handwashing times, no assemblies etc.) and an increasing number of his friends are off now so he is very worried about them.

We don't really know any other school parents but even if we did when the schools close it's not like he would be going on playdates anyway.

He also can't visit my parents, something he has done 3/4 times a week since birth.

He is so very sociable I don't know how he will manage. Thankfully DD is only 3 so it won't affect her as much.

Anyone else worried about the effect of all this on their DC's MH?

Can you get your parents to Skype him?

Me! I’m worried about my own stress levels, and my own worries about my work.
From tomorrow I’m going to relish the fact that I am wfh and think of some fun activities we can all do. I want to try and make this scary time a bit of an off-grid adventure!

Try and be as matter as fact about it all as possible. Don't over explain and act as if it is going to be ok. Kids react to their parents and follow their lead.

My dad is quite good with tech so I am going to see if we can set up some video calls.

DS is so close to his grandpa, they do so much together it will be so hard for both of them.

I'm really worried about my DCs. They r so active now all their clubs have finished, there will soon be no school. I'm so sad for them :( at least it will bring a little more family time (not that I'll be able to interact with them as I'll be working from home)
