Their college closed today but all the other local schools and colleges are open.

But social distancing means she can’t visit him tomorrow, doesn’t it?

She is cross and says if they went to the college next door they would still be seeing each other.

This is confusing! I can’t take her, can I?

It’s also confusing because it’s not “strongly advised against” but “advises against”. What is the difference between those two categories exactly?

Common sense. Sadly lacking in this country it seems.

They are for everyone in that everyone should be taking action in proportion to their situation. It isn’t saying everyone should cease all social contact whatsoever.

As of 17th March that is.

Well I talked her through the risks and the rules and we decided he would come here for a few hours with a lot of precautions: all handles etc cleaned before and after, use downstairs toilet only (clean before and after) and just use one room. This is their last hurrah before what I guess will be several months of separation.

They are upstairs now and laughing together. I am sitting downstairs crying for them. I can’t imagine how painful that sort of separation would be at 17 with emotions running so high.

We keep saying: at least it’s not a war! But our poor babies. :( It’s going to be tough.
