Alton Towers planning to open on Saturday

Seen a message on Facebook that Alton Towers are planning to open on Saturday with distancing measures in place. Not sure how that would work on a ride.

Does anyone else think this is bonkers. I live close to Towers and I really don’t want loads of people travelling from all over during this outbreak.

Isn't it up to people whether they choose to go or not?

MyDcAreMarvel · 17/03/2020 21:02

No it isn’t up to people.

Mittler · 17/03/2020 21:02

Why not?

ChequerBoard · 17/03/2020 21:02

Actually no, I don't think it should just be be 'up to people whether they go or not' not unless they plan not to rely on the altruism of NHS health workers to look after them and their families when they contract the virus.

It's fucking selfish at this stage to act like mass gatherings are still OK.

HairyFloppins · 17/03/2020 21:03

But they might be using the local transport, trains buses etc?

I did wonder how they were going to manage queues if every person is 2m from the next ...

But schools are still open

Good luck to anyone trying to get to Alton Towers via public transport at the best of times.

I think these things are largely self-regulating. If enough people go to make it worth AT opening, they will open. If they don't, they won't.

I'd have thought Ikea was more of a health hazard, to judge by the queues at the weekend (I took my chances and queued for Kotbullar along with the rest of the local population).
