If my whole household has symptoms should we self isolate for 7 days (as a minimum) not the 14 day minimum

Did you all develop symptoms at the same time?

Lamentations · 17/03/2020 19:03

14 for households where one or more has symptoms. 7 for those that live alone

Monsterjam · 17/03/2020 19:04

@OldUnit within 5 days of each other. Was planing on isolating for 7 days from latest person to get symptoms as I thought that was what NHS website said

14 days. Better safe than sorry.

I am actually confused by some of the guidelines regarding this. I can't work out how to add a screenshot (I've only just registered) can anyone help please?

Chloemol · 17/03/2020 19:53

It’s 7 days for the first person showing symptoms, with 14 days for any other family member, as it could take 14 days for them to show symptoms. If they do start then I think it’s another 7 days for them after the symptoms show

Andorra155 · 17/03/2020 20:14

@chloemol that is how I have understood it. I was first to get it in our family and today is my 7th day. I understand my husband has to isolate for 14 days which he is doing, so he still has another 7 days to go...but I can go back to (the new!) normal tomorrow.
