Elderly parents and hospital appointment

Over 70's are meant to be self isolating. My dad is 96 and mum is 93. Dad has a non urgent hospital appointment on Friday which he has waited over a year for.

I phoned the hospital today to see what is happening and was told appointments are still going ahead and he should attend. Also told if he cancels he will go back to the beginning on the waiting list! I stressed his age but was still told he should attend.

He can't get their on his own so I would be taking him.

Me and DH were meant to be going to mum and dad on Sunday for Mothers Day but had cancelled. Now I think there is no point cancelling if I am going to be seeing them on Friday and dad is going to have to walk through a hospital and sit in a waiting room with probably many others.
