Do I need to SI myself and DD?

My brother is showing symptoms of CV. He’s been in contact with someone who has it (we think his friend has it). I have spoken to my brother from the other side of the living room only since Sunday.

My mum lives with him but is currently symptom free but is obviously self isolating herself. I have been in direct contact with her today before my brother started showing symptoms (as she hugged me). My DD hasn’t been in contact with her since Sunday. She hasn’t seen my brother at all for over a fortnight.

My DD and I are symptom free. So do we need to Self-isolate or not? Obviously I’d rather not have to as a single parent but will if needs be.

I would for 7 days.

No, officially you only have to self isolate if you live with someone with symptoms.

Morally though, you know there is a high chance your Mum is carrying it, even if she is not symptomatic.

Officially not - but I would. Everybody should be isolating themselves as much as possible anyway, so it's the responsible thing for you to do, since you hugged your mum yesterday, and people can spread it before they even show symptoms. It's incredibly contagious.
