Sir Patrick says they aim to keep deaths below 20,000

Last week the Chief Scientific Officer, Sir Patrick Vallance, said 60% of the population would likely contract the virus. Conservative estimates put the case fatality rate at around 1% which would mean that 400,000 people were likely to die.

Today Sir Patrick says they are going to try to keep the number of deaths below 20,000.

How are the going to do this? Surely this would mean a very strict, lengthy lockdown is now imminent?
