Just wanted to start a thread in case any one else wanted to express their good wishes and support.

Good luck people, we are right behind you rooting for you.
We know how under funded and prepared the NHS is but they aren't factoring on the sheer bullishness NHS staff have to get the job done.
Best of British to you all and thank you for your service. (Which keeps me alive )

@endofacentury all elective procedures are due to be cancelled. Presumably those staff, and those in places like outpatients (which is mostly due to be postponed) will be redeployed.
Nothing concrete yet.

Sorry for my earlier meltdown. Have sorted out a few things and feeling much better. Feel ready to face whatever tomorrow brings now.

Im an NHS nurse on Maternity leave. My manager rang me earlier and asked if i could come in. They are desperate. Apparantly high up people and corporate staff are being asked to join frontline staff and are currently receiving 3 day training to refresh their memories...

Then who would look after your baby Smithtylater ?

Oh absolutely. For NHS staff, it is a war. I have just emailed my GP surgery a message of support. I hope it gives whoever reads it a tiny bit of a lift. You are all risking your lives to help save ours. I don't know how we could ever thank you.

Thank them by never voting Tory again? 10 years of a party ideologically opposed to the NHS & we go into this underfunded, understaffed & underequipped. Take a look at the standard of PPE we're offering frontline critical staff. Its woeful. I'm not talking general here, the stuff the drs intubating sick patients are expected to wear. Terrifying.
