Are your dc at university staying put or coming home?

Sorry if theres already a thread on this, I cant find it if there is!
My dc is in halls at uni about 2.5 hours away by train. They have a part time job in hospitality which remains open and likely will do to the bitter end. Lectures are now online only.
They are anxious that they will be stuck there long term if things get worse.

Has anyone else's dc returned home for the foreseeable?

One of my D.C. is isolating at uni and the other is coming home.

DS is staying put. No lectures this week, one of the lecturers has self isolated. He has plenty of Uni work to do and a job in retail.

He is only 45 minutes away though, he's welcome to come back if he wants but he doesn't see the need. Yet.

One is staying, one is coming home but will go back next week she thinks. Both in shared houses.

My DD's lectures have been cancelled but workshops and seminars are still going ahead. She is staying put as long as possible.

DD is staying put - quite possibly over the summer too, we may not see her till Xmas. All the lectures are available online, I'm sure they'll work out how to do supervisions safely before the start of next term, unclear what happens re exams and labs (they should have been doing projects after exams). But the college seems to be staying open.

On the other hand, various of DDs friends have gone home, some overseas. They are unlikely to be able to return next term but that's ok if the teaching and exams are online.

In your DCs position, if they are reliant on public transport and if they may be stuck for somewhere to live at the end of the academic year then it may be better to return now.

It really does depend on individual circumstances- the unis ought to be getting their acts together to give clear guidance, which hopefully will allow flexibility.

Dd is 10 weeks away from finals. Her course teaching has now been moved online and most of her year are heading home to await clarity on how the final exams will be implemented.

DS1 handing work in this week then coming home for Easter at the weekend. Will be good to have him here while all this is going on tbh.

DD is home. She has online classes for the rest of the year and exams are cancelled. Her American flat mates went home yesterday. Their booked flights were pulled forward by a few days.

DC's uni have just advised all students to return to their main residence if possible.

DS is isolating for the next 7 days to make sure he's virus free then coming home. He's 4 hours away.
His lectures are now online and his exams will be too.

DS is going to fly home from Greece on Thursday (he's on his year abroad). He actually feels safer there but doesn't want to risk being stuck there for some months. Selfishly, I really hope he makes it even though I'm worried about him flying.

Mine is staying which is just as well because I'm sleeping in his room so dh doesn't catch anything as I'm looking after ds2 who is sick.

Ds1 has his finals this year, but he's not sure what form they're going to take. He's worked so hard for them so we're hoping they can go ahead.

She came home on Saturday for Easter (early due to the strikes) and has now heard that her 1st year exams are cancelled. She has some assignments on the go so we may head back for her to use the library - if it's open but otherwise she's finished til next year.

I'm fetching DS on Friday. He texted me today that he would be bringing all his stuff because he didnt think they'd be going back before September

Mine is staying put at the moment. He’s probably safer where he is rather than sharing a home with a school child and a front line NHS worker. However, if the schools close he may have to come home to help look after his sister while I go to work

Have two staying put at the moment.

We can get youngest urgently if we needed to and bring all his stuff home. He was going to be moving from student house to student house by walking his belongings round the corner in June/July but can’t imagine he’ll be doing that now. It’ll have to wait to September/October I’d imagine and we’ll move him and his stuff back up.

I’m more worried about eldest who is in final year and desperately trying to finish his dissertation which he hadn’t thought was going well, whilst worrying about how the exams will work now play out. He’s worked so hard feel so sorry for him with so much worry. He’s a 4 and a half hour drive away, but has his own car so it’ll be his judgement when he wants to drive himself back.

At least they are all in the same situation I guess. Feel so sorry for them though, especially those in their final year. Ds1 supposed to be applying and interviewing for a career as well, now that’ll all be on hold.

Ds messaged me to say they'll be doing their exams online. Not sure how that works, but as long as they go ahead I guess it's good news.

What he's going to do for a job afterwards is the question. The world is suddenly looking like a very different place now, at least for the time being.

York first year exams cancelled completely. Not sure about later years.

DD debating whether to stay in uni city or come back home. Exams will all be online. Graduation ceremony cancelled. All the nice bits of final year they'd looked forward to are now not going to happen.
