What happens if an elderly/ vulnerable person gets corona virus?

I read a post on FB this morning from a lady saying she had corona virus and couldn’t breathe, was told to go to A&E by her GP but A&E refused to see her. She had to just go home. This lady is young.

My father is 72 and has a couple of existing medical conditions. If he contracts Corona, there’s a good chance he’ll die from it. What if he weee to contract it? Would they just send him home to die?! Or keep him at home and just refuse him treatment??

Probably a stupid post but I’m now shocked and a little scared!

If this lady managed to get herself to A&E, then she was most probably a bit breathless not unable to breathe.

“Couldnt breathe” would mean practically bedridden with pneumonia or in the middle of an asthma attack.

Nhs111 or A&E will triage and decide who needs to be in hospital.
If the lady was young and otherwise fit, I imagine they decided she would cope at home in bed with paracetamol, fluids and sleep.
Anyone very elderly and presenting with severe symptoms will be a higher priority.
