I just sent the social worker an email, I’m in London, I don’t know if they’re making a list of the people who are living on their own with no friends or family who really need help. I have had a hard time since I can’t do my shopping online, all of the slots are taken. I go to one shop, can’t find what I need… my sink is now also completely packed up… I just feel like crying.

Are you anywhere near Tufnell Park? I know someone who is offering help there.

SeaViewBliss · 17/03/2020 14:34

This is a bit of a ling shot as all schemes will be responding differently but you could try ringing your GP practice and asking for an urgent referral to their social prescriber. Even better if there is any way to contact your practice by email so as to reduce calls in.

Also, regardless of your religion or non religious beliefs, local churches will most likely be able to help or at least sign post you to help.

Hope you're ok and get some help soon x

Thank you everyone, going over ground, I’m sorry, as I am using dictation and it gets things wrong. I was trying to say North West London. I don’t know if that’s near Tuttle Park. I think it’s not so close though.

Washing up liquid and boiling water can help, but be a bit careful as if it's really cold you crack the pipes.

Hi @Hellokittymania

I'm absolutely gutted on your behalf that you're having such a hard time. I found this list of local Covid 19 mutual aid groups. If you do a search for your area, it should give you a link to the relevant Facebook page where you can maybe put a post up for help.

covidmutualaid.org/local-groups/

The downside to the Nextdoor app is that you have to sign up with your genuine name and supply full ID, something not everyone's comfortable with.

I hope you find the help you need soon, and sending you much love.

everyblue · 17/03/2020 15:39

Oh - and here's the general Facebook Group:

Apparently they've added a further 150 groups today, so it's really growing.

brassbrass · 17/03/2020 15:43

If you look at this group.its split into separate areas with links to each individual FB group for that area.

Hopefully you will find local support x

Hi OP, I hope you have managed to find some support. I would sincerely hope that you would be flagged as vulnerable and alone by your GP/social services.
There are many volunteer groups set up to help people in your situation. I hope you have managed to get in touch with one, or even if a kind MMner nearby could possibly help, and maybe check on you.
Stay safe

OP Tufnell Park is near Kentish Town and Highgate. Are you anywhere near there?
