Haven, Parkdean, Hoburne holidays.. closure?

I know some independent holiday parks seem to be staying open until ordered to close, but surely these big UK wide companies have to close? It seems so dangerous to stay open.

Two of these companies appear to be staying open. How can you so blatantly disregard the advice? What part of social distancing do they not understand?

We have a Parkdean holiday booked in the next few weeks. Just waiting for them to cancel, as I assume that way we would get a refund, or to postpone?

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 17/03/2020 10:44

I've just paid my balance this morning to Parkdean. Maybe it will be cancelled, maybe it won't.

BlackWhitePurple · 17/03/2020 10:50

Haven said yesterday that they're contacting people who have holidays booked - I think they're allowing them to change dates at this stage. They're prioritising those people who were due to arrive over the next week.

Sgtmajormummy · 17/03/2020 11:01

Not a park holiday but my Devon timeshare is offering a free change of date to people with bookings up to the end of May.

Nquartz · 17/03/2020 11:04

We have a caravan holiday booked for Easter, it's a park dean but booked through Breakfree Holidays. I have no idea if we'll get our money back but we definitely won't be going!

itzybitzy · 17/03/2020 14:44

We've got a Butlin's just for tots booked for early June. Wondering if they will cancel it.

bangheadhere40 · 17/03/2020 14:45

I've got bultins booked in 2 weeks time....currently they are still open

MaggieFS · 17/03/2020 14:49

Center Parcs is closing. It's on their website.

BilboBercow · 17/03/2020 14:54

I have a haven holiday booked for the first week in April. At the moment they seem adamant they're remaining open

Dandani · 17/03/2020 14:56

I have one booked for 13 days time. Just trying to contact them now to see if I can move dates

MrsWombat · 17/03/2020 14:59

I've just seen someone on Haven's facebook page post an screenshot of the email. It just says parks are still open. No mention of refunds or alternative dates. Confused

Emcont · 17/03/2020 15:16

We've got haven booked for the 27th Confused

Nquartz · 17/03/2020 18:09

Just had an email from Breakfree holidays, the park is open so my holiday is on.

3 weeks for that to change though

Dandani · 17/03/2020 18:20

I'm waiting on a call back from the people I booked through as they're working though in date order. It seems a lot of places have changed their policies to make it easier for people to rearrange their bookings or cancel if they are being affected by the coronavirus

Walkinwonder · 17/03/2020 19:06

I live in a small village where one of these parks is based. The village itself is full of elderly, vulnerable people. The park is willing to open and put every single one of us at risk and I'm honestly disgusted. Their Facebook is covered in people saying there's no reported cases in this county but loads in there's so they are still going as it's safer. If you go on one of these holidays right now you are a selfish, selfish person.

I have great friends who are staff there and they are being offered no protection, no working from home, no PPE. Fuck all

We have a haven booked for this coming Friday. We were told we would be contacted today and nothing, now been told we will be contacted tomorrow

bangheadhere40 · 17/03/2020 19:13

I think it's upto the parks to shut and refund people. I'm still unsure if I will.go if they haven't shut. I hope they do.

Nquartz · 17/03/2020 20:45

@Walkinwonder regardless of whether we get a refund or not we won't be going, it's not worth the risk

ZoChan · 17/03/2020 20:48

We are booked with centerparcs for 20 April- they emailed a week ago saying we can reschedule up to the day before arrival. Was pleased with that and will see how it all plays out.
