School trip still going ahead today with parent helpers?

My daughter’s school trip is still going ahead today - it’s to a local mostly outdoor attraction around 45 minutes away on a coach. However I’ve just found out that the plan is that several parents will also be going along on the trip and on the coach. Surely this should now be cancelled? Would you still let your child go? I’m very close to saying that she can’t go and will need to stay in school. She doesn’t have any health issues.

Ds was meant to go on a school trip on Friday but that has been cancelled and rightly so.

Hmm. I don’t read that from the subsequent OP posts?

Anyway, anyone in a similar position in coming days, please, don’t send them!

ChickLitLover · 17/03/2020 09:41

Hopefully you haven’t sent your child. Ours school has cancelled all school trips as well as assemblies, parents evenings, workshops etc. It’s really irresponsible of the school to have gone ahead with this after yesterday’s guidance.

Elizabeth - I don’t think schools should be carrying on regardless either.

Keeping our asthmatic son at home.

Duchess, I just thought that if op posted at 9.20 and she was still umming and ahhing, that the child would already be at school or on the coach.

ElizabethMainwaring · 17/03/2020 09:45

Good, I don't blame you. Well done. Sorry, I hope that I haven't come across as goady, that wasn't my intention at all!

Duchessofblandings · 17/03/2020 09:49

No not at all Elizabeth. School trips often don’t get off until later (by the time they’ve all decided they need to get off the bus because they need the loo or the parent has been called back in to sign the missing form 😁)

Name & shame the school & we’ll all email the head Grin

My husband was put under pressure at school and given how heartbroken our daughter was, allowed her to go. No other parents seemed to have a problem with this and we were made to feel unreasonable. I’m pretty cross right now as they blamed us for not raising this until this morning, but guidance on this only changed last night after school was shut?

Ours went on a trip yesterday. I wasn't sure it was a good idea, but school are constantly updating their official guidelines and parameters.

Duchessofblandings · 17/03/2020 11:01

Sorry, Churchillian, but if grown men are going to crumple because their wide eyed children are trembly lipped or other parents are tutting and rolling their eyes, we’ve had it.

Hoggleludo · 17/03/2020 11:53

Our school have stopped mostly everything. Except school. No volunteers. No trips. Nothing.
