Does DH need to self isolate?

DH is working away at the moment and is due to come home Thursday.
Me and DS2 started with a cough in the middle of last week, but it didn't last long.
DS1 had a day of coughing on Friday last week so we have been self isolating ever since.
The new guidelines are that people can leave the house after 7 days if they have had symptoms.
Presumably if DH comes home on time he would then have to isolate for the full 14 days.
If we get DH to stay away another day I'm guessing we are all fine to come out of isolation?

Don't you all need to isolate for 14 days if your DS still has a cough.

He doesn't, we are all now free of the cough, we started the 7 days on Friday.

Confusing isn’t it, we were in a similar situation

Very confusing, obviously I want us to do our bit for keeping this virus away but if we can pay for a hotel for a couple of nights to avoid DH fucking up his work then we will.

I would keep him away for a day or two until isolation is over then surely he'd be fine to not isolate

its 14 days after symptoms first start.
