I am 33.

I have hydrocephalus and ME as well as an under active thyroid.

My Mum is 55. Relatively good health but has COPD after pneumonia a few years ago.

Is on her 3rd or 4th chest infection of the year.

I have a 5 year old son. At school.

My husband is 47 and works in retail.

Would you limit contact with my Mum given her health? She collects my son once a week from school on the bus and he stays for tea. She also has/sees him at the weekend.

Would you insists on full time wfh rather than week in/week out rota given my health?

Also, what precautions would you take wrt to if both husband and I fall ill... no one to have son given mum’s health above?

Yes and yes

I definitely would avoid contact with your mum- copd is in the at risk group.

Your medical conditions are not in the at risk Group so I think the reduced schedule with half working from home is suitable.

wheresmyhairytoe · 17/03/2020 06:36

Yes, I wouldn't see your mum for a while.
Yes, I'd ask to work from home.

With your son, just hope you and DH get it separately so 1 of you can watch DS.

I’m assuming you get a free flu jab and are in the gov work from home group.

I am so worried became my mum just seems to be carrying on. She has 2 weeks of shopping and thinks she will be fine

Yes and yes

I wouldn’t worry too much about DC if you’re both ill, he will have to be quarantined with you anyway so I’d just make sure I was prepared with as many minimal effort activities as possible and seriously relax any screen time rules!
