This is making me angry. I had a delivery today. Almost every thing there. I thought I had better do next weeks order. No available deliveries. At all. The dates go to 5th April.

Me and 2 shall dc self isolating as of today, due to me and one dc having persistent cough. I also have a tight chest and am exhausted.

We will manage for most things other than milk i suppose, for a couple of weeks. I might try to set up a "milkman" delivery.

It's utter madness. No slots at all

Could you look at one of those meal subscriptions so you at least have decent dinners? Or ask a family member to drop you off some supplies?

EveLevine · 16/03/2020 23:01

Try Iceland? They don’t seem to book more than a week ahead, so if you log on first thing tomorrow you may be able to get a slot for next Monday.

Sparrowlegs248 · 16/03/2020 23:26

Trouble with asking family members is the bloody supermarkets are just madness atm. My parents are abroad, 2 other family members live 25 miles away.

I've never shopped at Iceland before, I don't buy frozen stuff really, but will definitely have a look.

I've just said this to someone else tonight but did you have a look on Facebook? Where I am there's lots of groups setting up to deliver groceries to people who are self isolating. Good luck Thanks

lubeybooby · 16/03/2020 23:33

Gousto are ace and have said today they are keeping going. Their delivery drivers knock, drop and run, no signing for anything

ShiftyOwl · 16/03/2020 23:36

I mentioned slots to my my mum earlier today, I can’t suggest an immediate solution but I would suggest booking up all the slots that you need over the next few weeks.
I have a regular slot booked and I book 3 weeks in advance, you can book a slot, Chuck a few bits into the basket and then confirm it the day before delivery.

Windyone · 16/03/2020 23:37

Have you tried different supermarkets. Where I am Sainsbury’s had none and Tesco had plenty

Sparrowlegs248 · 17/03/2020 09:48

@ShiftyOwl no slots available, at all! I've found one with Morrisons, for 2 weeks time.

Ah that's no good, but good news for the Morrisons one.
I've just checked and Tesco only have slots from 2nd April. I haven't tried any other supermarkets though.

adaline · 17/03/2020 10:24

Nothing here until March 29th - which I've booked just in case.

Ask around on your local Facebook if you need anything urgently. On our local one the local businesses are offering free delivery of things like milk, bread, toilet paper and tins if you're in self isolation.

They're leaving food in gardens/porches, you collect and leave the money, go back inside and they'll pick up payment.

eatsleepmoverepeat · 17/03/2020 10:26

If you’re an Amazon Prime customer and they do Prime Now in your area then that could be an option. We’re self isolating and I’ve been using it for milk, bread and other perishables

sunflower1201 · 17/03/2020 10:32

I'm self isolating and couldn't find any slots for weeks apart from Iceland. Booked on Saturday and delivery arrived yesterday, lots of choice and fresh and cupboard staples as well as frozen. Only thing I couldn't get was pasta and chicken, really impressed and very cheap!

Meruem · 17/03/2020 10:35

I've had to book in slots now for 30th March and 9th April. Have a shop due to arrive tomorrow but not sure what it will consist of! It is all quite worrying. I don't want to stock up on loads of things we're not keen on (because most of the stuff we usually eat is gone!) but at the same time I don't know if it's just going to get harder and harder to get food.

Thy keep telling us that food won't "run out" but on CH4 news on Sunday (I think it was) they had some food retail expert on saying actually it is possible we could run out. Presume the government would implement rationing before we hit that point but I don't know.

fretaway · 17/03/2020 10:42

OP see if a local courier will pick up milk and bread from the local shop. We have one who does takeaways but will also do a custom pickup where they will get you anything from any shop, including supermarkets.

MissFrizzleIAmNot · 17/03/2020 10:43

I've just logged in to tesco and my shop, which is due Friday has HALVED because stuffs not available.

They've removed half my shopping ffs

sasspot · 05/04/2020 18:05

Yes, I am a mum - not a young one, but a mum nevertheless.
I am 66yrs old with medical conditions, and I am self isolating. I just want to ask you all to leave the slots for others if you ARE able to do your own shopping. People are allowed out to shop. I have tried to get a delivery slot on all the supermarket websites and cannot get a slot. I try them all every 15 mins, but no luck. I haven't gotten any shopping for 3 weeks now. So please, if you CAN shop in person, I beg you please do so. Thank you.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 05/04/2020 18:41

Deliveroo here are doing M&S deliveries, might that be an option? It’s only the small M&S petrol station, but they have a reasonable amount of choice.
