I am supposed to be going to London this weekend to see a show. Was staying overnight . Hotel and train booked

It's gonna be off isn't it?

The following week I am supposed to be flying to France.

What do you think the chances are?

Pretty low I’m afraid

PatriciaHolm · 16/03/2020 19:59

All of the West end is pretty much shut down as of tonight, but you should be able to get a refund.

Zero chance of flying to France

BMW6 · 16/03/2020 20:00

No chance of either I'm afraid OP. Even if you could go, you should not.

Pinkflipflop85 · 16/03/2020 20:05

All west end theatres are closing tonight.

LIZS · 16/03/2020 20:08

London theatres have closed indefinitely, travel should be limited.

DorothyParker111 · 16/03/2020 20:08

Genuine question - how is it you don't have the information you need to be able to answer your own questions? How could/should the government be making information available so people can absorb it? I don't see how anyone who heard/read today's announcement can be in any doubt about what the implications are, but maybe I'm missing something ... This is honestly not a snark, I'd really like to understand.

mollypuss1 · 16/03/2020 20:11

Zero

Mrsjayy · 16/03/2020 20:16

Theatres are closing down productions i know it is a pain and dissapointing but realistically it probably won't go ahead sadly.

Mrsjayy · 16/03/2020 20:17

I had plans for a show on wednesday theatre closed!

I’ve just checked their Instagram (I had plans too) and it said they’re closed tonight and that they will update properly tomorrow.

Littlebookwormiam · 16/03/2020 20:22

It's probably a no to both I'm afraid OP.

Mrsjayy · 16/03/2020 20:24

It is Edinburgh we were meant to be going so very dissapointing .

mrsradley · 16/03/2020 21:17

Ok
To the non snarky posts that were actually

I work a 24 hour shift pattern and actually hadn't even seen or heard the news .
I work in emergency service.
I'm knackered and my pist was more of a musing / clutching at straws .
I have never ever been to west end and this was a treat paid for by someone else. I would never be able to afford it . So bang goes that.
And France - again friend has house there . Bought cheap flights. At the time I asked France hadn't - as far as I know - stopped all travel.

So I'll crawl back under my rock and stop asking stupid questions.

^ same here.

I’m wondering if they’ll refund anything. I wonder if the actors and staff will get paid while they’re closed.

ShowOfHands · 16/03/2020 21:48

I was supposed to be going to a gig on Friday and the theatre next week. Both cancelled. Just waiting for them to formally cancel Les Mis which I was going to in a couple of weeks.

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 16/03/2020 22:00

I have Wicked tickets for next week they have said on social media that refunds will be given. Doubt I’ll get my flights to London back unless they are cancelled just need to wait and see. This was a treat for dd the tickets were her Christmas present she’s gutted but we can rebook later and go again.

Mrsjayy · 16/03/2020 22:28

We are getting refunded it was Lion king touring so the run finishes early April.

Mrsjayy · 16/03/2020 22:30

showofhands I think Les mis closed it was on their facebook page

bruffin · 16/03/2020 22:35

I had Hamilton tickets for tonight. Went to theatre, was cancelled minutes before and we were met with a letter. I only got tickets on Saturday and work a few minutes from theatre so thankfully not a lot effort and anticipation. Dh met me outside Wicked and he said they were still selling tickets then.

ShowOfHands · 17/03/2020 13:44

Les Mis initially closed for last night only @Mrsjayy. It was inevitable that it would close indefinitely but wasn't announced officially until today.

Comefromaway · 17/03/2020 13:57

Refunds will be given. Some smaller theatres (we had Last Five Years booked st Southwark Playhouse) are asking if people will consider donating thier ticket price to the theatre.

The majority of staff at theatres are casual. They won't get paid. I have lots of friends from front of house to actors to musical directors who, as of yesterday are out of work.

DorothyParker111 · 17/03/2020 14:15

@mrsradley it really wasn't a snarky question. I am running comms for a community-based CV support group and I'm trying to understand what we need to say and how we need to say it in order to get our messages across more efficiently. Open to suggestions. And I'm sorry you've lost out on those opportunities, I hope you get a chance in future.

Mrsjayy · 17/03/2020 15:04

@showofhands So I just saw ,Sad. It is all so gloomy atm

bruffin · 17/03/2020 16:32

Ds had to keys for End Game at the Old Vic. The whole run was cancelled at the weekend . They have asked for people donate their ticket money and they will access to a filmed version of the play that has already been recorded and priority tickets for a year
