Employers - Working From Home

Small business owners, what are you doing about the working from home advice if they can't actually do their work from home? I can't afford to pay my employees unless they're working. If they were sick and self-isolating they could get SSP. But they need to be in the office with our equipment to do their job. And without production, I can't sell anything to make money to pay their wages.

What are others in the same situation doing?

Thank you!

The guidance is to work from home if it's possible to do so. If it's not possible and you are healthy with no symptoms then the advice is to continue to work.

As a reasonable employer can you make any adjustments like

  • scheduling a variety of shifts so people can work at different times
  • make sure more breaks are available for hand washing
  • provide gloves/soap etc
