For those not in the UK, how much warning did you get for school closures?

From when your government first announced it, to when they actually shut. 24 hours? A week? A weekend?

About an hour

We found out in Thursday lunchtime that schools would be closed from end of that day. We had been expecting the announcement to come when it did.

We are in Austria.
They closed university and school for over 14s first last week with little notice because they can stay home alone.

For primary we were told last week it was going to happen this Wednesday but that kids had to attend on Monday and Tuesday. Then they said on Friday that children could stay home Mon and Tues if they wanted to. Then on Sunday we went into a lockdown situation.

Schools and kindergartens are still offering childcare for families where both parents have to work and we have been told not to send the kids to grandparents which is very cultural here. Our school has 7 out of about 200 pupils still going.

The lockdown has actually been a bit of a relief. The rules on what you can and can't do are pretty clear and we are not constantly questioning what we should be doing.

It seems really awful in the UK that every bit of advice from the government seems to create more questions and uncertainty for people Confused

In ireland, announcement made at 11:30 on Thursday. Came into effect from 6pm for all Creche's, schools, kids clubs etc.

Knew it was coming-but came slightly earlier than was originally anticipated but came ahead of Paddys day which is a good idea.

Went to the shops today to pick up some essentials and it was a one in, one out queuing system. Very limited staff (which is good!). Was a quiet and peaceful shopping experience (except for people chatting in the aisles and not moving their trolleys and ignoring the whole social distancing thing!).

We were told on Friday afternoon that schools were shut from Monday.
