Would you cancel birthday party?

It's my 4 year olds birthday party next Saturday. 25 children at the local church hall with an entertainer... most of the children are still at nursery every day so we are minded to carry on for anyone comfortable attending. We've discussed not coming with the grandparents, who are going to self isolate ... we also have a 5-week old. Would you carry on?

I’m in exactly the same position - my son’s 4th birthday party is at the end of the month and he’ll be gutted if it has to be cancelled. Schools are still open so they’re more likely to be exposed there anyway, and all attendees are still happy to come, but I feel uneasy about it. Will be interesting to see what others would do because at the moment I haven’t got a clue!

I have cancelled my 5 year old's Bday party that was taking place the end of this month. Devastating but the right choice 100%. I'll reschedule it for sometime in the future when we aren't in the middle of a deadly global pandemic 👍🏻

Well, after this afternoon’s advice to avoid non-essential social contact, we’ll be cancelling ours. At least the decision has been taken out of our hands.

The sensible thing would be to cancel in these circumstances. Your four year old will hopefully have plenty more birthdays to celebrate.

Yes, looks like decision out of our hands ... hopefully she can have a 4.5 party instead x

I’d cancel because although children are still attending school, 4 yr old birthday parties, parents usually stay too, so there would be a fair few children running around and parents chatting and amongst all the children. They say minimal contact now.

Yes cancel. It’s tough but these are scary times.

DDs was cancelled yesterday. Lost all the fee I've paid. Eating our way through food and cake that was preordered.

Cancelling DSs this Saturday. Not sure if they'll rebook me or refund yet.

Both DC are absolutely gutted.

Currently in the same dilemma wondering whether to cancel or not. As others have said everyone at the party would have been at my sons nursery with him all week so an extra 2 hours on Saturday doesn't feel like it will make much difference. But the other part of my brain is screaming social distancing!!
