Dropped dd off at school this morning. Of about 20 parents/kids I passed, 5 had either the parent or one or more child coughing. Not throat clearing, proper cough.

One mum with 4 kids, 2 of them were really coughing.

Another said to her dd don't be coughing like that at school

Now I know they could be coughs that are not 'new' but it seems unlikely that all of them are 7 day plus coughs.

And after reading threads on here saying 'DC has woke up with a cough but it's definitely a cold, I'm ok to send them in aren't I?'

I just think people really aren't grasping it. No one is saying your child has it, but we don't know who has and that's the point. Most of us will be fine but a lot of us won't be. These precautions are to keep those people safe as much as possible.

I think after years of "attendance at all costs" and stories of fines, it's hard to change.
Fwiw I've got two DC and DH coughing a lot, one DC coughing mildly, and myself I have the occasional cough but feel rough. So we are quarantining as a household. Luckily DH can work from home

I think a lot of people like to think that this is all going to blow over and it will be busy as usual because the alternative is frightening. Unfortunately this is a huge world event and we are all going to have to adjust our expectations.

Too many people think that children don't get it. They do, but little children less severely. Teenagers can still end up on the ICU.

My DC is off school with a cough and temperature. I’m certain it is a cold but nit taking the risk.
