Some questions about emergency service workers.

I’m trying to work this out but this is so unprecedented I doubt it’s possible, nevertheless I’m trying!

If both parents are frontline emergency service workers and have young DC.

What happens if (or when?) the country goes into lockdown? They will still have to work but who will have the children? If no family nearby or if parents are in the at risk bracket due to age and health so can’t risk them having the DC while we work as the working parents may have picked something up and the DC could be carriers.

Will police/paramedics/drs/nurses get hazmat gear? Seems unlikely but then how to avoid bringing it home or spreading it from person to person? They will have to see people to deal with emergencies so could be spreading it around surely?

It will vary on county to county depending on resources.

Some are saying one parent will remain at home with child if on full lockdowns and other parent will remain frontline and be housed in halls/HQ quarters/meeting rooms so not taking anything back home.

Others are saying both parents need to stay at work and it's up to parents of they want to keep returning home to the children each shift and potentially infect them or if they need a day off to take their children across the UK to family/friends to house them for time being.

Others are saying it's a waiting game and changeability by the day.

You need to speak to your own service/force and find out their plans.

Me and my husband are both police officers and we haven’t had any guidance from our force yet. I honestly have no idea what we’ll do. My MIL has a serious lung condition so no way we’ll be sending our son there and we can’t afford to put him in nursery full time. I’m really worried!
