Everyone knows more than the experts?

Why do so many people have no faith in the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Scientific Officer advising the government?

You're assuming that the Chief Science Officer thinks this is the best advice and isn't toeing the party line (agreeing with Boris) in order not to freak people out.

Because a lot of other scientists disagree. Not just in this country but across the world. I don’t really think we’re talking about the odd dissenting voice here.

Ordinarily I’d trust Chris Whitty. But I think there’s a chance we’ve taken a risky strategy that might in hindsight turn out to be a mistake.

In any situation Mother Knows Best.

And this is the main place for Mother

There are more experts than the ones our government choose to listen to.

I choose to believe the WHO who have a global interest and experience than whoever the fucking mad hatter has decided will cover his premiership in glory.

Oh and this tweet from Kevin Maguire 'Recall a PM and Whitehall scientific advisers told us BSE couldn't be passed to humans and dissenting experts were dismissed as wrong. Then in 1996 the Mad Cow scandal erupted with infected meat killing people'.

Because this isn’t just “science”. It’s not a lab experiment, but requires the behaviour and response of the public to be taken into account.

The public aren’t automatons and probably won’t obediently sacrifice themselves in large numbers to test an unproven scientific theory. To get the herd immunity required, someone needs to be infected every 2 to 3 seconds! It all feels like this could be the first day of the Battle of the Somme scenario, but played out over many months with the public infecting each other at just the right rate. Scientifically this may be sound, politically rather difficult to achieve to say the least!

But maybe this is all necessary, and the world needs to go through this pain, and we’ll
be leading the way. If so, we’ll need some genuinely Churchillian leadership!

I believe the vast majority of experts on this and I'm listening to what they are saying to the UK. That we're making a catastrophic error.

A couple of renegade experts standing either side of the PM apparently have a strategy that the rest of the global scientific community think is catastrophic.

We're doing less than all other countries to flatten the curve. And they are all drowning under the crisis.

To believe that two experts in the UK outrank an entire global scientific community of hundreds, all trying to warm us, loudly, suggests you think there is something very, very special about the UK's exalted two particular experts.

I'm with the W.H.O. on this one. They are the scientific experts I'm listening too.
