'UK's 'herd immunity' strategy will result in 8,600 20-40 yr olds requiring intensive care beds, "2x the number of beds available," according to calculations by Harvard and Boston Schools of Public Health. They say their calculations are "extraordinarily conservative."'

No beds will be available because they will be filled by all the other age groups.

Exactly. It this approach will quickly destroy the NHS very quickly. I am very fearful that it's not being taken seriously in the UK and it will lead to unnecessary deaths en masse.

I imagine Infertility clinics which have ventilators and beds and sedation expertise (for egg collections) will be forced to treat some patients. Ditto private / army hospitals. We may see hotels and empty buildings seized and converted into makeshift hospitals. I imagine if things went crazy the priority would be healthy people within this age group so young people with diabetes / high blood pressure / some autoimmune conditions / cancer may be told to self-isolate instead.

We may see distressing scenes of elderly / unhealthy people being taken off ventilitors when an otherwise healthy 20-40 year old needs it.
