AIBU to expect DH to self isolate for the next 7 days?

We have just come back from a holiday in Maldives and my husband is due back at work tomorrow however he works in public transport and despite him not showing any symptoms, I would be more rested that he isn't in contact with the public for the next 7(or more if required)days. He argues he hasn't shown any sign so he should be okay, and that if he doesn't go to work he will see a huge dip in salary during the one week he wouldn't be working. I just don't feel comfortable thinking IF ever he caught it and unknowingly passes it on to someone more vulnerable, it would be so upsetting.

Can anyone help with any kind of advice?
ThanksSmile

Has there been any confirmed cases in the Maldives?

MRex · 15/03/2020 20:46

See what the advice is regarding flights as of tomorrow morning, and what his employer's opinion is? I think he should at least ask his employer because they will have updated their policies and have an opinion. I agree that flying at all is a risk, and advice is changing quickly sometimes.

What is the official advice?

Oly4 · 15/03/2020 20:54

If he has no symptoms he can go to work. The Maldives is not one of those listed by Foreign Office as needing self isolation

Okay thanks ladies!

If you travel in from a country on the list its 14 days isolation.

If they arent on the list it's fine to go back.

Not sure why you think 7 days is the right time.

Thanks Ortega. We literally just got back yesterday and still trying to gather as much info as possible on the official guideline. MIL works in NHS and she mentioned something about a 7 day isolation for herself also BIL who is a train driver and got back from Dubai was asked to be self isolated for 7 days before getting back to work which is why I thought the isolation period was 7 days. Thank you for enlightening me.
