I need some much needed advice.
I'm aware how serious things are getting but I just need to know what you would do.
It's my friends 30th and next Friday we are booked on a DFDS boat to Amsterdam.
We only get 6 hours in Amsterdam on the Saturday so we will only go to pubs.
Would you still go?
They have said the service is still up and running

Countries will not want extra burden of travellers very soon and you could get stuck somewhere full of people waiting to get back.

I can't believe people are still asking this question.

Glittercandle · 15/03/2020 15:14

My DD last weekend with a friend, friend is now self isolating as she got a high fever 2 days after getting back - I wouldn’t risk it and imagine it will be cancelled by then anyway.

SilverySurfer · 15/03/2020 15:15

Go, have a good time, yay, party! I hope you enjoy lots of walking and swimming and we should see you back in a couple of months Hmm

I think you are nuts. Fortunately, I think the Dutch authorities will make that decision for you.

Babybel90 · 15/03/2020 15:21

Not the point of the thread I know, but why would you bother going all that way by boat to just sit in pubs, do they not have pubs where you live?

Lynda07 · 15/03/2020 15:23

No, I think it is unwise to travel at the moment. You'll have opportunities in the future so don't risk your and other people's health right now.

BlackCatSleeping · 15/03/2020 15:25

This is exactly what my friend was saying. Oh, the UK is fine. No one is worried about it here. The government has it under control. Etc. That changed quickly.

purpleboy · 15/03/2020 15:47

Selfish and unnecessary.

dottiedodah · 15/03/2020 15:49

A friend was going away for a short break to Europe this weekend .However they were turned back from the airport .I would think its unlikely they would still be running the trip .

Roselilly36 · 15/03/2020 15:52

Holland locking down

To go abroad next week?
wheresmymojo · 15/03/2020 16:47

You definitely won't be going to any pubs...

MrsG010814 · 15/03/2020 17:04

Of course DFDS are telling you it will be going. They want to hang on to your money as long as possible, same as every other travel company. Everything is fine until it isn't.

backatschool · 15/03/2020 17:27

Just announced an hour ago - all bars, restaurants, coffee shops, sports facilities, gyms, museums and sex shops shutting as of now for 3 weeks.

Coronavirus is a virus. A virus does not respect borders. It does not care if we speak english or Dutch if it wants to cross it will cross. If the ferries are still running go...

this virus is a version of Sars that spreads a little easier that is all. It will be over and done with within 4 weeks.

It has been confirmed that this virus struggles to survive in moderate /higher temperatures. Also it wasn’t transmitted by bats.

seasonal flu is more likely to claim your soul than this mild bug. I was in Hong Kong during the SARS out break and I didn’t even slightly die.

Life does not stop because the daily express says so.
