To wonder if I may have had the coronavirus

I live in a region that only yesterday had its first confirmed case. About two weeks ago I was very unwell and taken to hospital with unexplained chest pain that they couldn’t find any reason for. For three or four days prior to that I had been unwell with a high temperature and dry cough that started with a sore throat. It seemed to get better for a day or two then came back for another couple of days. Two weeks on I am mostly better but still have a bit of a cough.

My mum put the idea in my head as from mid January to mid February she had a horrible illness. She had an awful cough and high temperature and was given three lots of antibiotics that didn’t help before eventually going on a brown inhaler. She is mostly better now too but she said to me that through her work, she had four Chinese clients. She thinks she may have had it, in hindsight.

I’m now wondering if the chest pain I felt that eventually settled on my right side just between my lower ribs might have been some type of pleurisy but my chest sounded clear so they didn’t X-ray. Just ecg of my heart and bloods.

My baby also became unwell around the same time as me with the same symptoms but he was also cutting a tooth too so I put it down to that.

What do people think? Thankfully I live in the country and very rarely go out just now so if I have had it I’m fairly certain I haven’t spread it about but I can’t help worrying.

You won't know as there's not a retrospective test as yet, but it's not beyond the realms of possibility. I'm surprised they didn't test you for it.

Is the test through blood? The doctor said they basically tested for ‘anything that could kill me’ and it was fine. Maybe they did but just didn’t tell me?

We currently have it I reckon. Dh had a bad sore throat about 10 days ago which has turned into a dry cough. He’s shattered and had abit of a temp. A few days ago my throat started killing me, struggled to swallow and was so painful! Last night it’s turned into a dry cough 😩😷 i feel so rough

No it's a mouth swab I believe

I think a lot of people will have had it and not known.

It does make me wonder. I returned from abroad just over a month ago and was due to have surgery that was cancelled because I had a dry cough, aches and temp of 38+ so they wouldn't intubate me, it was only just starting in the UK at the time but they didn't do any sort of testing so who knows 🤷

I think it’s a nasal swab.

Yes I had one day of a sore throat first, then fever varying from 38 to 39c and took paracetamol every four hours for three days to keep on top of it. Then I had a dry cough and just felt like I had been hit by a truck, climbing the stairs made me breathless. Then one morning I woke up and within ten minutes started getting pain in my chest going through to my back that I thought must be trapped wind. So I tried banging my back against the door frame and even tried to make myself sick in the hope it would ease it but it got worse and settled to the right side of my chest and shoulder. I was taken in as a precaution but there is no explanation for what caused the pain. They couldn’t find anything. For the next few days I was either on the couch or in bed and slept a lot then began to feel better though I’m still not 100% more like 95%.
