Are acrylic nails an absolute no-go for hand hygiene?

Hi all,

Are acrylic nails an absolute no-go for hand hygiene? I got some put on 19 days ago. I have never had them before and loved them. I got them taken off yesterday because I was worried that I couldn't sanitise them properly. The technician said acrylic bails are more hygienic than regular nails because they aren't porous. She said if you get them off early your nails underneath will be destroyed and impossible to keep clean. I am kind of agreeing with her now.

What do people think?

I meant to say 10 days ago. I can't even blame the annoying nails for typos now!!!

Bollocks. I’ve had them twice and was always grossed out at the gunge that collected between my nail and the false one.(my nails curve over and I’m not a mucky mare honestly. I’d scrub them with a brush but that sends the detritus in further. Then there’s the gap between the nail and bed. And they fuck your nails up no matter what.

Long nails in general are probably best avoided at the moment, unless you carry a nail brush around with you. I am persoanlly avoiding nail salons as they are not exactly the most hygenic places and most reuse utensils.

They are pretty filthy at the best of times Confused

My nails are gel enhancement so not false nails on top of my nails. They are no cleaner or dirtier than my normal nails as I wash my hands in the same way.
