Apparently there are several Big Brother shows going on where they have no idea about Coronavirus

Apparently there is some film based on this idea..

One in Canada and one in Germany?

I think they should probably be told..

Are you aware there's a corona virus topic? I'll report your thread and ask for it to be moved

DettolsYourFriend · 15/03/2020 09:07

I don't know 🤷🏽‍♀️ while they're in there they are safe!
They should be told if any family members show symptoms though.

Toria70 · 15/03/2020 09:08

STICK TO THE CV SECTION FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

The sane amongst us have no wish to know.

It's got fuck all to do with CV and its effects- but a more interesting conversation in general.

But get you Hmm

Erm............ Biscuit

chomalungma · 15/03/2020 09:11

It's just an interesting thing to happen - people completely shut off from the world during an outbreak.

OP posts:
puds11 · 15/03/2020 09:12

Literally has the word corona in the title @chomalungma Hmm

RaspberryBubblegum · 15/03/2020 09:13

If they saw the images of the supermarkets and lockdowns they'd think it was the zombie apocalypse Grin

chomalungma · 15/03/2020 09:14

But it's not specifically about CV.

It's the idea of people cut off from the world during an outbreak.

You can engage or not engage. It could apply to any incident and it's the basis of a film that's already happened.

If they saw the images of the supermarkets and lockdowns they'd think it was the zombie apocalyps

The video shows them discussing why it's so quiet outside Grin

Ooh that was the premise for Charlie Brooker's Dead Set: zombie outbreak while contestants on BB initially do not have a clue. It was very good if you haven't seen it. On Netflix in the UK. I might watch it again even though I do remember how it ends.
28 days later, similar premise when guy wakes up in hospital alone. And of course the start of the tv adaptation of day of the triffids when the guy who had had an eye op(?) comes round to discover everyone else has been blinded by the light display(?)

chomalungma · 15/03/2020 09:25

Adds to self isolation watch list Grin

I see the thread police got this moved.

This is basically the plot to the show "dead set", except with a virus instead of zombies. It's a great show, I recommend it if you like zombie horrors!

AllTheseThingsThatIHaveNotDone · 15/03/2020 09:27

I like your OP OP...tis more to do with ethics than being shoved in the CV topic: at what point do you alert people to outside goings-on when it jeopardises entertainment for the self-isolating masses: you wait until one of their relatives dies? you wait until deaths occur in their home town? you wait until TV production employees are affected?
It's a decent topic if you like moral quandaries (for me, they should be told)

chomalungma · 15/03/2020 09:31

Maybe that should have been my title?

And it could have gone in the ethics topic?

AllTheseThingsThatIHaveNotDone · 15/03/2020 10:40

Ach don't worry about it OP, I thought it was fine in chat. But because of stress/anxiety etc rather than hiding topics, many are treating corona like Brexit and Royal Family Crown - they want a respite so want them all in the ''right'' category.

chomalungma · 16/03/2020 22:23

They find out tomorrow night

Anyone else jealous of them? Blush

PestyMachtubernahme · 16/03/2020 22:37

Yep, reasonably jealous of them.

It would probably be unethical to leave the contestants completely in the dark for ever, or to extend their stay on BB. Or should they be allowed the option of staying?

Also intrigued by the thread police, The sane amongst us have no wish to know. I am failing to grasp the concept of chasing ignorance down the road and mugging it.

PestyMachtubernahme · 16/03/2020 22:42

There is indeed an Ethics topic www.mumsnet.com/Talk/ethical_dilemmas not exactly high traffic, although probably more suitable than the Corona topic for this.

chomalungma · 16/03/2020 22:47

If it's a live show, that is going to be gripping TV.

Morally wrong.
But fascinating to see a human reaction.

"This is Big Brother speaking, there is a virus that is sweeping the world. Germany is in lockdown. No one is allowed to go to pubs or restaurants"

OP posts:
chomalungma · 16/03/2020 22:48

They might not believe Big Brother. They might think it's a set up.

OP posts:
pottytraininghelp · 16/03/2020 22:55

Oh this is interesting I would like to see their reaction when they find out. I agree they won't believe it at first and think it's some weird task.

PestyMachtubernahme · 16/03/2020 23:18

US BB was on when 911 happened, one of the contestants cousins was listed as missing. Hopefully they have learnt how to break things gently
ew.com/article/2001/10/05/big-brother-and-september-11ths-grim-reality

There has to some other precedents also.

RaspberryBubblegum · 17/03/2020 10:46

Does anyone know if we can watch it in English somehow? It's been confirmed that they are telling them live on air.
