I have 3 people in my family with IgA deficiency and I can't find anything specific about this coronavirus and IgA as it's probably too early and everyone is to busy trying to fight it or find a cure.
However, I found some articles from the past
jvi.asm.org/content/jvi/71/7/5251.full.pdf
IgA seems to be a 1st line defence in this trial back in 1997 for a gastro coronavirus.
In this study on SARS it seems IgG is the most useful

IgA is usually a 1st line of defence against viruses. It seems it works at the mucus membrane so it seems it would help stop it getting into the lungs. It seems that being low in IgA could be an issue for fighting any virus including Covid-19.
I have advised my family members and everyone in the house with them to isolate especially over the next few weeks as we go up the exponential curve in cases. If you are going to get it you want it to be in a few months or years not in the next few weeks.
It seems that children seem to have an extra level of protection and tend to have little symptoms and no deaths recorded which no ones understands yet. All the best for your son.
